American-born Ghanaian attacker Charles Sapong scored the opening goal for Philadelphia Union in their 2-1 victory over Orlando City in the American Major League Soccer on Saturday.

The 27-year-old raced the hosts into the lead with a 2nd minute finish at the Talen Energy Stadium in Pennsylvania.

Sapong, who has so far scored three league goals, also set up the free-kick which was converted by Tranquillo Barnetta.

Sapong tapped in an Orlando defensive mistake in the second minute for his third goal, putting the Union up 1-0.

Orlando also cashed in on a shaky defensive effort in the closing minutes of the first half as Winter used his left foot to roll the ball back to the right corner in the 43rd minute. Kevin Molino had the cross as Winter eluded the defender.
