Ghanaian Christopher Antwi-Adjei struggling at Bundesliga side VfL Bochum

Forward Christopher Antwi-Adjei has not been able to assert himself sustainably at Bundesliga club VfL Bochum.

Antwi-Adjei made a free transfer from Paderborn to Bochum before the start of the current season, but almost six months and the Ghanaian is struggling with consistency.

According to coach Thomas Reis, there are reasons for this, as he stated after the test match against Viktoria Köln this week.

"Tactically, he still has a lot of room for improvement," explained the trainer, who also concluded that the 27-year-old had to be "braver". Especially in the second part of the game, Antwi-Adjei didn’t cover himself with fame when a big chance was missed.

“If the goalkeeper is eight meters in front of the goal, you have to make a different decision in a one-on-one. With his dynamism he could have passed by, for example,” explained Reis.

Despite the deficits, the wing player, who played for 90 minutes against Cologne, could beckon a place in the starting XI against Leverkusen this weekend.

"We know what we have in him," added the coach, who may have to do without the injured Danny Blum and Gerrit Holtmann against the Werkself.

He has assisted three goals in 10 appearances across all competitions in 440 minutes.
