Ghanaian defender Bright Gyamfi reacts after second debut for Benevento

Ghanaian defender Bright Gymafi expressed delight after making his second debut for Benevento this past weekend.

Gyamfi came on as a second-half substitute in their 3-1 win over Crotone as Benevento remain in contention to secure top-flight football.

He rejoined Benevento in January as a free agent after being unattached for six months.

But he had to wait for almost two months to play his first match of the season.

“This was a very difficult match. I thank the coach who made me play today, he always told me to train hard to have space on the pitch.

“I'm happy, I hadn't played for a long time and it wasn't easy. My teammates helped and charged me for this match," Gyamfi said.

It was his first competitive action since May 2021 when he featured for Reggiana in their final match of last season.

The 26-year-old parted ways with Reggiana where he struggled with injuries.

The former Inter Milan youth player moved to Reggiana from Benevento in September 2020 but after less than a year, it was obvious he had to move on.
