Ghanaian defender Nicholas Opoku declared fit after missing Amiens' last game due to injury

Ghanaian defender Nicholas Opoku has returned from injury to boost Amiens’ squad ahead of their Ligue 2 match against Niort on Saturday.

Opoku suffered an injury in Amiens' win over Grenoble two weeks ago and did not make the squad for last week's match against Caen.

In his absence, Amiens struggled in defence, conceding three goals to succumb to a 3-1 defeat to Caen on the road.

Speaking to media ahead of Saturday's match, Amiens boss Philippe Hinschberger said the defender is available for selection.

“Apart from the usual small glitches, we did not bring back any injuries from the Caen match. For Jérémy[Gélin], he resumed last weekend in individualized work then he was reinstated Tuesday in the sessions, nothing prevents him from making his return. It's the same for Nicholas Opoku, he's fit in principle. Now, with a detected case, we are careful. Caution is in order," he said.

The 25-year-old has made seven appearances so far this season and registered one assist.
