Ghanaian forward Erich Berko is injured and will not be available for SV Darmstadt in their first match of the season.
Darmstadt clash with FC Magdeburg in the first round of the German Cup on Sunday.
Berko, who had worked his way back to the starting eleven after the messed up pre-season, got a knock on the knee in training on Wednesday.
"Nothing broke with him," he said. But the reaction on the bone does not currently allow the 26-year-old to train," coach Markus Anfang said on Friday.
His injury is a big blow for the club, who have already lost two wingers to injuries.
They will be hoping he recovers early for next weekend when the Bundesliga II starts.
