Ghanaian midfielder Gershon Koffie has won the 2015 Vancouver Whitecaps FC Goal of the Year.

The former Ghana youth international’s long-range screamer against Real Salt Lake on May 30 was the best of the pack.

After a cleared cross, Koffie picked off Joao Plata in midfield and smashed a swerving half-volley into the top right corner.

The former Inter Allies player was then celebrating his 100th MLS start.

Koffie ran away with the Goal of the Year crown, earning 73 per cent of the vote over Octavio Rivero’s diving header vs. Orlando in the final round.

The club’s Goal of the Year is presented by Budweiser.
