Ghanaian players pay tribute to president Mills

Ghanaian players abroad have paid tribute to the country's president John Evans Atta Mills, who died on Tuesday, on micro-blogging website Twitter.

Most senior internationals reacted with shock when news of his demise was announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Olympique Marseille star Andre Ayew, who met the late president after leading Ghana's Under-20 to win Africa's first FIFA Under-20 World Cup in 2009, expressed his condolence.

He posted on his official page: "All my regards and my support to his family and to the Ghanaian people. RIP our president. It's a sad day and it's with a deep emotion that I learned the death of our President mister John Atta Mills."

New Juventus signing Kwadwo Asamoah ?also responded by saying: "Got news that Ghana President John Atta Mills has died. Really nice man everytime I met him. RIP"

Would-be Ghana international Emmanuel Frimpong ?also added: "Just Heard the Ghana President John Atta Mills Just Died.... May your soul Rest In Peace."
