Ghanaian striker Benjamin Tetteh admits he is relieved not to have been handed a one-match ban by the Belgian Football Association Dispute Commission.
The talented striker is alleged to have punched an opponent while in action for Standard Liege in a league clash against Kortrijk a few weeks ago.
Tetteh insisted he was innocent and was only protecting the ball in the incident which was not spotted by the referee.
The former Dreams FC man faced a one-match ban and at least a â¬400 fine if found guilty in the review of the video footage of the incident.
But the Appeals Board ruled: "It appears from the television pictures that Chanot was running in the direction of Tetteh who unwittingly gave protection to the ball.
"Therefore, it’s is not a voluntary move which could harm the opponent.”
The Ghana U20 star concedes the decision came as a massive relief.
“Nothing was going through my mind. It just feels good,” Tetteh told GHANAsoccernet.com of his feelings during the hearing of the case.
“I said that I did nothing wrong and the decision has vindicated me.”
The decision made Benjamin Tetteh available for selection in Standard Liege’s barren draw at Waasland-Beveren.
