Ghanaian winger Arvin Appiah has emerged as a transfer target for League One side Ipswich Town.

According to the Ipswich-based newspaper East Anglian Daily Times, the English club are interested in signing Appiah who is open to returning to England because his move to Spain has not worked out.

Signed by Almeria for £8 million in 2019, the 20-year-old has struggled to live up to his price tag thus far.

A total of 10 league starts over two seasons and ended the 2020/21 campaign on loan elsewhere in the second tier, with Lugo.

What is clear is Ipswich's interest, however, remains the English third-tier side are uncertain whether to sign him permanently or take him on loan.

His hefty transfer fee suggests that it would be a loan with probably an option to make the move permanent.

Appiah has three years remaining on his Almeria contract and the club would look to get a reasonable amount if he should leave permamently.
