Ghanaian youngster Abdallah Basit expressed excitement after making his first league start for Italian Serie B side Benevento on Monday night.
The 20-year-old, who had made a couple of substitute appearance, was handed a starting role against Trapani as manager Filippo Inzaghi gave rest to some key players with the promotion to the Serie A already secured.
The holding midfielder gave a positive account of himself as he lasted for 56 minutes. Benevento suffered a 2-0 defeat.
"I am very happy with this chance I was given. I thank the company, the coach, the staff, and all my companions who always help me a lot," Basit told reports after the match.
"I follow the older ones a lot, they know more than I do and I still have a lot to learn. It is very important for me to wear this shirt, Benevento is a great company. Now we have to keep our guard up."
Basit joined Benevento from Serie C side Arezzo in September last year. He has largely been a squad player, making only five appearances across all competitions this season.
