Ghanaian youngster Benjamin Acquah seals Swedish top-flight qualification with Helsingborg IF

Ghanaian youngster Benjamin Acquah has gained promotion to the Swedish top-flight with Helsingborg IF following a play-off win on Tuesday.

Helsingborg overturned a 1-0 deficit from the first leg as they claimed a 3-1 victory over Halmstad BK in the second leg to seal their qualification.

Helsingborg opened the scoring of the match at the Orjans Vall Stadium through Wilhelm Loeper in the 34th minute.

The lead lasted for only seven minutes as Halmstad drew level in the 39th minute after midfielder Samuel Kroon scored.

Helsingborg scored twice in the last six minutes of the game to seal the win which secured them a place in the Swedish Allsvenskan next season.

The 20-year-old Ghanaian midfielder didn't feature in Tuesday's game as he lasted the entire duration of the game on the bench.

Acquah made 20 appearances in the Swedish Superettan this campaign where he scored one goal while playing on loan from Ghanaian side Ebusua Dwarfs.

Helsingborg are expected to sign Acquah on a permanent contract ahead of the next term after excelling during his loan spell.
