Gideon Baah could be leaving Asante Kotoko after his agent denied reports her client has signed a contract extension.
The 20-year-old was widely reported to have signed a two-year extension which will keep him at the Premier League champions until 2014.
The management of the player led by Fifa agent Eby Emenike have however rubbished these reports describing them as disruptive to the playerââ¬â¢s future though admitting negotiations are ongoing with the Kumasi-based club.
ââ¬ÅWe all know that the Dr K.K Sarpong led-administration of Asante Kotoko has done a lot for Gideon and he will forever be grateful for that,â⬠she told the former Sporting Mirren playerââ¬â¢s website www.gideonbaah.com.
ââ¬ÅHowever, we [parties involved] all want his career to progress and we are looking into available options.
ââ¬ÅAll these false rumours are disruptive because if there were to be any clubs interested in Gideon, they may lose interest believing he is tied up for another 2 years.
ââ¬ÅPeople forget that no matter how much a footballer loves his club, he also wants career progression.
ââ¬ÅYou will see someone rejoicing because he/she has been promoted at work and received a big pay rise, but under the same breathe, they will shout abuse at a football player who has decided to leave his current club and develop his own career.ââ¬
ââ¬ÅAs long as everything is done above board, it should not be an issue. Nothing has been set in stone yet but when if there is something concrete, it will be made official.ââ¬
Kotoko risk loosing the talented defender on a free as his contracts expires in September amidst a flurry of interested clubs.
Baah joined the Fabulous lads three seasons ago and played his part in the clubââ¬â¢s Premier League feat last term.
