Globacom have urged Asamoah Gyan to continue with his superb goalscoring form for both club and country especially during the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.

The encouragement came when the on-loan Sunderland striker at Al Ain visited the telecommunication giants in one of their offices Accra.

Gyan, 26, who is also a brand icon for Globacom was advised to maintain and improve his high work rate for the Black Stars as they aim to end a 30-year-wait for an African title.

“We at Glo are very happy over the strides made by Asamoah Gyan this year and it makes us even proud to be associated with such a gifted football player,” Regional Marketing Director of Glo Charles Jeuarius said.

“He moved to a relatively uncharted territory in the UAE and became an instant hit and all of the sudden everyone is talking about the league over there and in to think of it, that is what Glo is all about – making giant strides at places least expected.”

Glo wished the ex Liberty Professionals, Udinese and Stade Rennes hitman who is currently nursing a hamstring injury which is expected to keep him out for three weeks a speedy recovery in time to help Ghana’s course at the Nations Cup in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

Gyan in his response thanked Glo for their support and pledged to continue working hard to justify the confidence reposed in him as a leading brand icon.

“I want to thank Glo for their continued support in my football and personal life,” he said.

“I promise not to disappoint you and my teaming fans for years to come starting hopefully with our triumph at the Nations Cup.”

Ghana begins camping ahead of the tournament which starts on January 21 with a training tour of South Africa on January 7th and will be based at the plush Royal Bafokeng Sports Complex in Rustenberg.
