Goalkeeper Ben Mensah relishes competition from Sowah at Hearts of Oak

Benjamin Mensah has insisted that he is unconcerned by the prospect of other goalkeepers challenging him for the number one position at Hearts of Oak.

Ghana's leading football website, GHANAsoccernet.com reported on Wednesday that the Phobians have agreed a two-year deal with former Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Ernest Sowah.

However, Mensah stressed that he is not perturbed by the potential competition he will face at the club and says it will be healthy competition.

“Having three world class goalkeepers would bring competition in the department and eventually bring the best out of each,” Mensah said as quoted by GNA.

“Ernest Sowah is a good goalkeeper and if he wants to join Hearts, he is welcomed to help the club in order to win the local competitions and compete in Africa club competitions as well.

“If we have good keepers and one is injured or not available, the other good one can be used and we shall achieve our results and also receive winning bonus as a result," he added.

Sowah will slot in Theophilus Jackson's place after the young custodian was offloaded by the club alongside three players last Friday for non-performance.

Hearts occupy 10th position with 15 points, six points adrift of leaders Ashanti Gold after 12 games.
