Gyan scores again to rescue Sunderland in Tottenham clash

Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan is proving to be a massive hit in England as he scored for Sunderland on Tuesday to hold Tottenham to a 1-1 draw in White Hart Lane.

Gyan came to Sunderland's rescue at Tottenham in the Premier League game, with the Ghana striker scoring his third goal in two matches to clinch the draw.

The Ghanaian's scoring prowess will make him one of the feared strikers in one of the best leagues in the world if he continues on this fast, impressive pace.

Gyan's 67th-minute equalizer came after a mix-up in the Spurs defence between William Gallas and Younes Kaboul allowing Danny Welbeck's pass through.

Rafael van der Vaart put Spurs ahead three minutes earlier, maintaining his record of scoring in all six home matches since being signed in August.

But Tottenham's central defenders William Gallas and Younes Kaboul ran into each other to allow Gyan in for his fifth Sunderland goal.

White Hart Lane was buoyant, but it was silenced just two minutes later as Sunderland found a way back into the match.

Welbeck drove down the left-hand side and stretched out a leg as possession  ran away from him, somehow poking the ball between a floundering Kaboul and Gallas.

Quick as a flash, Gyan sniffed out the chance and a rolled a low shot beyond an exposed Gomes into the corner of the goal.

It was an excellent finish from the Ghanaian Baby Jet, whose quickness on the turn took him away towards goal before a flat-footed home defence could react.

Sunderland coach Steve Bruce had freshened up his starting line-up with six changes from the team that had beaten Stoke City at the weekend but, wherever he looked, he struggled to see a goalscorer.

It was a remarkable pre-match statistic that only two of his players had found the net for the club this season, and one of them, Darren Bent, was out injured.

With Bent denied the opportunity to show off his finishing skills responsibility sat on the shoulders of Asamoah Gyan, the all-singing, all-dancing £13m summer signing.
