Hamburger SV manager Tim Walter has stated that defender Stephan Ambrosius is not in his plans for this season.
He confirmed that the German-born player who recently committed to play for Ghana is requesting a transfer away from the club.
The 23-year-old needs regular game time to be considered for Ghana's World Cup squad and is desperately searching for a club.
"Stephan is doing really well, but he has three guys in front of him [Sebastian Schonlau, Mario Vuskovic and Jonas David, ed.] who are also doing very well. That's why it's difficult for him to draw attention to himself to do," explained Walter on Thursday.
For a long time, everything seemed to point to a loan to Karlsruher SC, but the deal fell through. Ambrosius' management has been looking for a new club ever since.
The defender is said to have been offered to the neighbourhood club St Pauli recently, and the brown and whites responded positively.
