Hearts of Oak midfielder Emmanuel Nettey wants league matches played simultaneously

Hearts of Oak mercurial midfielder Emmanuel Nettey has suggested to the Ghana Football Association to consider playing all the league games at the same time with few games to end the season.

Nettey scored in the Accra derby on Sunday as Hearts of Oak and Great Olympics played a 1-1 draw on matchday 28 fixture of the Ghana Premier League.

The hardworking midfielder was adjudged Man of the Match after the game.

The former Inter Allies midfielder stated that the race for the league title is becoming keenly contested, and to prevent matches from being influenced the FA should consider matches being played simultaneously.

According to Nettey the team feels a bit pressured when they were the last team to play during match weekend and adding that it would prevent external influences with few matches to end the season.

“Yes sometimes we feel pressured playing the last game of the day because others know their results. If we play at the same time it is going to help because that is what is done around the world with few matches to end the season.

“This would ensure that there would be no influences from outside, so I think it would help if matches are played at the same time,’’ he said at a post-match press conference.

On Hearts of Oak league title ambitions: “The league is not yet over for us. We are going to fight for the rest of the points and hopefully, we can annex the trophy at the end of the season.”

The Phobians currently share top spot with arch-rivals Asante Kotoko on top of the table with 50 points after matchday 28.

Hearts of Oak host Medeama SC on matchday 29 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, June 13, 2021.
