Hearts of Oak have reportedly opened contract renewal talks with midfielder Benjamin Afutu.

According to local reports, the Phobians want to tie down the talented midfielder to a long-term contract following his excellent performance in the truncated season.

The 24-year-old has less than a year left on his current contract, having joined them on a three-year deal from Karela United in 2018.

Reports have linked him with a move away from the club but the Phobians are keen to maintain one of their key players as they aim to challenge for the title next season.

He was the stand-out player for the Phobians in the suspended Ghana Premier League with rave reviews coming from his teammates.

He made 13 league appearances for Hearts and scored two goals.
