Hearts of Oak Board Member, Frank Nelson has confirmed reports that his outfit is serious about setting up a permanent and functional scouting department to improve player recruitment in the future.

The Phobains have been lambasted and lampooned over their poor player recruitment in the last couple of years but this year it appears the supporters are gradually appreciating the work done by the club in the transfer window.

The acquisition of players such as Emmanuel Nettey, Benjamin Afutu Kotey and Fredrick has got Hearts of Oak dreaming of their first league title in over a decade.

Over the weekend, Hearts of Oak recorded an impressive 1-0 victory over Dreams FC thanks to Kofi Kordzi’s second half strike.

Asked how Hearts have managed to acquire such decent players into their fold, Nelson said the Phobians have learned from their poor recruitment in the past and are trying to be more methodical in their approach going forward.

“We are pleased to be doing well and we haven’t set any major targets even if our desire is to win the title. Regarding the good performances this season, we did some good business in the transfer window and we are doing everything possible to set up a prober scouting department which will take care of all the clubs dealings, including identifying and nurturing talents for the team,” Nelson said on Asempa FM.

Hearts of Oak occupy 10th position on the league log, with 10 points from seven games.

The Phobians will face Ashantigold in Accra on Thursday night for matchday 8 of the Ghana Premier League.
