Hearts of Oak director Alhaji Akanbi has declared the club's preparedness to withdraw from the Premier League if the decision to award a hefty compensation to sacked coach David Duncan is upheld by the Ghana FA.
The Phobians have officially filled an appeal to the Status Committee's ruling to have the club pay about $40,000 to coach Duncan for his unfair dismissal late last year.
Hearts were also handed a $2,500 fine for their lawyer's absence in one of the sittings to hear the case brought against it by their former coach.
Officials of the club have since been incensed by the ruling and are adamant they will not pay the fine.
This threat has now been upgraded with the club's supporters’ representation on the board declaring the withdrawal of Hearts of Oak from the Ghanaian top flight if the decision is not reversed on appeal.
"I can tell you that Hearts of Oak is ready to withdraw from the league if this horrendous decision is not reversed," Alhaji Akanbi told Happy FM.
"I know where I am coming from and the decision will be in the best interest of the fans and followers of the club.
"Some people are desperate to see the back of Hearts of Oak and we will not give them that pleasure.
"If this outrageous decision is not reversed, the club is ever ready to withdraw from the league."
Hearts are currently third in the Ghana Premier League – seven points adrift leaders Asante Kotoko ahead of the second round of the league.
