Hodgson confirms Kelly blow

Published on: 22 February 2019

Roy Hodgson has said that Martin Kelly, who has signed a contract extension, is injured and will miss Crystal Palace's match at Leicester City.

Hodgson says the 28-year-old former Liverpool defender picked up "a muscle strain" in last weekend's FA Cup fifth-round win at Doncaster Rovers.

Kelly, who joined the Eagles from Liverpool in 2014, is now contracted to the club until June 2021.

He has featured in 110 games for the club, and said: "Being part of a squad that's remained in the Premier League since I came, that's been a real challenge.

"We've had a great set of lads and we've got a great set of lads now. We added well to the squad so it's always been exciting being at Palace and I've loved the challenge of trying to stay in such a good league and really enjoyed my time here."

Meanwhile, Aaron Wan-Bissaka will also miss the King Power Stadium clash with what Hodgson says is a "hamstring problem".

There is some good news for the former England manager though as Wilfried Zaha is available again after serving his suspension.

Crystal Palace, 6/1 to finish in the top half of the Premier League this season, can be backed at 5/2 to beat the Foxes on Saturday and at 11/4 to keep a clean sheet against Claude Puel's team.
