Former Hearts of Oak midfielder Joseph Tagoe has revealed he has told his son to drop out of school to give his football career the attention it needs.
Tagoe, who spent three seasons with Hearts from Great Olympics, announced his retirement from football last week.
The 27-year-old assigned superstituous reasons for his pre-mature retirement from the sport, claiming forces have been working against him.
However, speaking ahead of the big Ghana derby between Hearts and Kotoko in Accra on Sunday, the former Rosenborg BK triallist has revealed he has told his son to quit school and focus on football.
"I've told my son to stop schooling and focus on football," he told Accra-based radio station Hot FM.
He further revealed it was the young boy who initially told him to hang his boots.
"I was there and he called me to bring my boots to him because he wants me to quit the game," he added.
The highlight of Tagoe's career was his glittering performance at Great Olympics which earned him a move to former African champions Hearts of Oak.
He also made a handful of appearances for the Ghana U23 side.
