2021/22 Ghana Premier League: Week 28 Match Preview - Great Olympics vs. Berekum Chelsea

Published on: 06 May 2022

Great Olympics would want to quickly put aside their recent predicament by claiming a victory against Berekum Chelsea in the Ghana Premier League on Friday.

The Wonder club have managed only one win in their last seven league games, their worst run this season. They aim to end that this Friday.

Olympics have gone three matches on the bounce without a win - defeats to Bibiani Goldstars and AshantiGold and a draw against Eleven Wonders FC.

The poor form lately has seen them drop from the top four places to the 7th position and are aiming to make amends on Friday to get back to the former position.

Annor Walker's side will move into the top four again if they are able to see off Chelsea in the matchweek 28 fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium.

First choice goalkeeper Stephen Kwaku won't be available for the Dade Boys due to suspension. He was sent off in last week's game against Wonders in Techiman.

Walker has all other players available for selection to face Chelsea.

Chelsea will be making the trip to the capital for this fixture by trying to get a result that would let them forget about the embarrassment they got in Obuasi last night.

The Bibires were walloped 5-1 by AshantiGold SC at the Len Clay Stadium last Sunday - their worst defeat in the premiership in recent years.

Chelsea are currently sitting at the 8th position on the league standings with just a point behind Olympics who are at the 7th place.

They could move to the 5th position with a win over the Wonder club on Friday but that is a daunting task for them to achieve.

Chelsea have managed only one win in their five visits to Olympics in the premiership have lost all of the other four matches.

Striker Owusu Osei and captain Jackson Owusu picked up injuries and were substituted in the first half against AshantiGold last week. They are expected to be fit to face Olympics.

Coach Solomon Odwo will be missing the services of first choice goalkeeper Gregory Obeng Sekeyere who is away with the Ghana U20 team in Niger.
