Legon Cities right-back Youssifou Atte has been handed a Togo national team call up following his outstanding displays in the Ghana Premier League.

The former WAFA player has been called up for the friendlies against Sierra Leone and Benin next week.

Atte has been impressive for the Royals and plays a key role in their quest to finish the season in a good position.

The Accra-based club took to social media to celebrate their defender's national team invite.

"Congratulations on your call up to the Togolese National Team. Go make us proud," wrote the club on Twitter.

He joins WAFA's  Josue Doke as players from the Ghana Premier League to play for the Hawks in the upcoming international break.

Togo missed the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations and manager Paulo Duarte is building a strong team to be able to qualify for the next edition in Ivory Coast.

Togo, who were at the 2006 World Cup, have struggled in recent times due to the retirement of star forward Emmanuel Adebayor.
