Manchester United stars make Cristiano Ronaldo ‘demand’ after Atalanta comeback

Man United come from behind

Manchester United would find themselves 2-0 down vs Atalanta in the Champions League earlier this week.

A loss, or even a draw, would be disastrous for Man United who had already lost to Young Boys in Europe earlier in the season, were out of the League Cup and winless in three Premier League ties.

However, thanks to a second-half shake-up, the Red Devils were able to come from 2-0 down to secure a 3-2 win. Harry Maguire, Marcus Rashford and Cristiano Ronaldo all found themselves on the scoresheet in the second 45.

Manchester United players make Cristiano Ronaldo demand

Following the game, it was also revealed that Ronaldo addressed the Man United team at half-time vs Atalanta, which seemingly played some role in the comeback:

Cristiano addressed the whole team and told them that the performance was unacceptable. He asked if they were not ashamed and said this was not how Manchester United perform in front of their own fans. He told them they needed to win the game and, if they didn’t, they might not qualify for the next stage of the Champions League.’

Now, the Mirror have brought up the story once again this weekend. They ran with the headline, ‘Man Utd stars demand Cristiano Ronaldo take up new role after dressing room blast’.

And in the report itself, citing the Sun, the Mirror claim that Man United players have asked Ronaldo to take up a bigger role in the dressing room to bridge the gap between the players and the coaching staff.
