FEATURE: What Asante Kotoko can expect from Prosper Narteh Ogum

The Porcupine Warriors finally ended their search for a new head coach to replace Mariano Barreto with the hiring of Prosper Narteh Ogum on Saturday.

Ogum signed a two-year deal with Kotoko, after previous managerial stints at WAFA and Karela United. Kotoko fans will be hoping that Ogum's new attempt at management will be more successful than his previous, but here are a few things to expect from the new Asante Kotoko manager.

 Possession Football

Under the likes of Maxwell Konadu and Mariano Barretto last season, Kotoko rarely possessed games.

However the new boss is likely to shake things up. Prosper Narteh Ogum's footballing philosophy focuses on dominating possession in games.

A change in shape could also be seen, although his preference for a 4-3-3 formation resembles that of Kotoko's. The former WAFA boss' tactics will also demand lots of off-the-ball work, in order to establish a high-pressing style.

A Relaxed and Straight-Talking Attitude

Prosper Narteh Ogum is not the type of manager to shy away from difficult discussions with journalists. He's unafraid to state what is on his mind, whatever the reaction from the media may be. But he also enjoys a joke and Kotoko fans can expect to have a few laughs during news conferences and interviews.

He also transfers this attitude to the pitch. He always expects his players to remain sharp, even if they are well in the lead. He's a manager that's always pushing his squad to do better and will likely be seen on the touchline at Baba Yara, correcting his players no matter what the current scoreline is in the game.

Youth Development

As a university lecturer and taking into account, his previous spells with UCC youngsters, Karela United and WAFA aptly confirms Ogum's predilection for youth development.

He put his trust in his youth players, giving many a chance to blossom. With WAFA, names like Augustine Boakye and Youssouf Atte readily comes to mind. With him around, expect him to introduce more youth in his Kotoko setup.
