Injured Ghana star Thomas Partey ruled out of World Cup 2022 qualifiers

Ghana will be without injured Thomas Partey for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia and South Africa next month, GHANAsoccernet.com can report.

The 28-year-old will miss the Gunners opening couple of weeks of the season after suffering an ankle injury in a pre-season clash against Chelsea.

He is expected to recuperate fully at the end of August, which means he will not be fit on time for the World Cup qualifier opening match against Ethiopia on September 3 as well as the clash against the Bafana Bafana in South Africa three days later.

Ghana coach Charles Akonnor is expected to announce his squad for the double-header on Friday without the former Atletico Madrid talisman.

Ajax star Mohammed Kudus and other established midfielders are expected to fill the void created by the absence of the injured enforcer.

Partey will miss the first three games of the season, including the matches against Chelsea and Manchester City.
