John Mensah expresses goalscoring delight at Nations Cup

Ghana captain John Mensah is excited at his goal scoring form at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.

The 29-year-old defender who came into the tournament with no Nations Cup goal to his name had already scored two goals including scoring the first in the hard fought 2-1 win over Tunisia on Sunday.

And the Olympique Lyon player who now has more goals than Ghana's top striker Asamoah Gyan appeared over the moon when asked to express his feelings with his goal tally at the tournament.

"I have to give thanks to God for the two goals scored so far in this competition," he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

"Before I played many Nations Cup matches but hadn't scored before so I thank God this year that the goals are coming from my side.

"I also want to thank my colleagues who worked very hard for me to score."

Mensah who limped off injured will now get the opportunity to lead his team in the semi finals of the tournament against Zambia on Wednesday if he is able to recover from an aggravated thigh strain.
