Ghanaian winger Kalif Alhassan excelled on his debut for Minerva Punjab FC as they pipped Neroca FC 1-0 in the Indian I-League on Saturday.

Alhassan joined the Punjab-based side for the remainder of the 2018/2019 season as a free agent agent a fortnight ago.

The arrival of the tricky Ghanaian winger seemed to have injected belief in the squad after his swashbuckling display helped them end their 10-match winless streak.

A fantastic strike from Spaniard Juan Quero Barraso was enough for the Warriors to register a 1-0 victory over Imphal-based Neroca FC at Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Haryana’s Panchkula.

With the victory over Neroca FC, Minerva Punjab FC jumped to the 7th spot on the log, leapfrogging Aizawl FC, Gokulam Kerala FC and Indian Arrows.

While Chennai City is on the top of the points table with total 37 points, Minerva sit 7th position with 17 points.

Kalif is the son of former Ghana international and two-time Africa Cup of Nations winner George Alhassan.
