Ghana U-20 coach Maxwell Konadu is working to lift his side above the national grief against Uganda following the demise of President John Atta-Mills.

The Black Satellites take to the field against The Hippos on Saturday in the first leg of the penultimate African Youth Championship qualifier just days after the death of Ghana’s President.

The situation which has plunged the entire nation into a state of deep sorrow and mourning is threatening the Black Satellites’ psyche going into Saturday’s crucial game.

But Konadu is looking to turn the tide by getting his team into the right frame of mind before facing Uganda at the Nakivibo Stadium this afternoon.

“Of course everybody was down when the news came out but we have spoken to the boys and we are trying to get it behind us and go ahead to win the game,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

The Black Satellites have been struggling to regain its form that saw it win both the African and World Cup in 2009.

They now look to at least qualify the nation to the finals which will be hosted in Algeria next year.

The winner of this tie will face either Morocco or Gambia in the ultimate qualifier.
