Asante Kotoko progressed to the quarter-finals of the MTN FA Cup on Wednesday after dismissing defending league champions Aduana Stars 11-10 on penalties.

The match ended 2-2 in regulation after Daniel Darkwah opened the scoring on 8 minutes.

Kotoko came back strongly and striker Ahmed Toure's sublime finish in the 35th minute drew level.

The home side went ahead through Fatau Mohammed who beautifully beat the Aduana goalkeeper and went past a defender inside the box before slotting home the goal.

But goalkeeping error from Isaac Amoako handed Aduana the equalizer in the 82nd minute through Alex Aryee.

After a marathon penalty session, Samuel Asiedu missed Aduana's 13th spot-kick to send Kotoko through to the next stage.
