Asante Kotoko chairman Dr. KK Sarpong has congratulated his team for their progression in the CAF Champions League.

The Ghanaian champions recorded an impressive 8-0 aggregate win over Sony ela Nguema of Equatorial Guinea to make it past the first preliminary round.

Kotoko are looking to reclaim their lost glory in African club football upon their return to the Champions League after a four-year absence.

And chairman Sarpong while savouring the first round victory insists the job is not yet done at the side progresses in the competition.

“Once we have qualified then it means we are doing well and I congratulate the team for this victory,” he said after Sunday’s win.

“We won both home and away though I was expecting more goals (in the second leg) in Malabo but we won.

“We know have to go back on the drawing board and strategize for our next opponent.”

Kotoko will now face Algerian side JSM Bejaia in the next preliminary round later this month.

The first leg will be played between the weekend of 15-17 March and return in Kumasi 5–7 April.
