Asante Kotoko boss Maxwell Konadu has tipped defender Awal Mohammed to be a ''world class'' player and insists his potential is yet to blossom.

The centre-back has put up some resolute performances for the porcupine warriors in the season.

But he was heavily criticized over a blunder which cost the side maximum points in the Premier league game at Berekum Arsenals.

He is expected to marshal the defence of the Kumasi-based club when the make a six-hour journey to Accra to face arch rivals Hearts of Oak in the Ghana Premier League derby.

Konadu claims the strong defender has peaked and reckons he will be a strong force in the world.

''He is a fantastic defender and trusts me he'll become one of the finest defenders in the world with serious training.

"He just needs to understand some few things while on the pitch and if he’s able to get that, he’ll be fine.

''He is one of the players I fancy will be a great addition to the Black Stars in future. Indeed, I think he’s fit to play for the team at next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.''
