Kudus can blossom at Ajax within one to two years, Dutch duo assert

Ghana youngster Mohammed Kudus is joining Ajax Amsterdam ahead of next season from Denmark side FC Nordsjælland.

Kudus, 19, will be signing a five-year contract with the Dutch giants in a deal worth around 9 million Euros.

Dutch duo Tom van Weert and Kees Luijckx who play in Denmark for AB Alborg and Silkeborg IF respectively faced the Ghanaian youngster as an opponent and see in him a player who can have a better future at Ajax.

"It's all so easy for him. He has so much ball control, so much power and is so athletic. If you go to Ajax, you have to have something special. Then you shouldn't be an average player in Denmark, but he is really special', Van Weert told Voetbal International.

"I have to be careful not to make it too good. The step from Nordsjaelland to Ajax is a big one, but when you see him playing, you see all the qualities you need to play at a club like Ajax."

The talent may be present, but to play in the current Ajax requires more than that.

"Of course Ajax has several players there and David Neres will return, so the competition is fierce.

"So if he has to make an intermediate step to get used to it, I wouldn't think that is surprising. He is still a young boy, but within one to two years he can be a basic Ajax player. '

Luijckx was also impressed by Kudus in the Danish top-flight.

"What typifies him is that he sometimes does not opt for an easy solution, for example a stab ball, but that he waits for the even sharper stab. Then he turns away one more time, so he immediately puts someone away. But that is also the crux of the matter. That he sometimes has to choose that ball at that moment, because at times you will have more resistance." Luijckx also told Voetbal International.

Luijckx thinks the Ghana wonderkid will be playing as an attacking midfielder at Ajax and also believes he will develop further more.

"I don't think he's a striker, more like an attacking midfielder. I think they're going to get him for that too. I find it very interesting for Ajax and for him, because he can develop further there. He will be challenged at Ajax. If you have to train there, you have to work every day."

The former Ghana U17 and U20 star notched 11 goals in 25 matches for Nordsjælland in the Danish Superliga this season.

He has earned two caps for the Ghana national team having scored on his debut in October 2019 against South Africa during a 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Cape Coast.

Kudus, following his impressive exploits earned a place in the nominations for the 2020 Golden Boy Award.
