MLS outfit LA Galaxy have reached an agreement with the Netherlands midfielder Nigel De Jong for him to leave AC Milan.

The 31-year-old will arrive in California on a free transfer and is expected to travel in the coming week.

According to the LA Times, De Jong has negotiated with the Rossoneri to be let out of the remaining years of his contract and he will sign a one-year contract worth less than €1 million which will be financed by league allocation funds.

De Jong will have the opportunity to increase his wages in the two seasons after his initial deal expires by taking over Steven Gerrard’s designated player spot in the Galaxy squad.

De Jong made five appearances for Milan during the 2015-16 season.

The 31-year-old is the second player to arrive in Los Angeles from Serie A after Ashley Cole moved from Roma.
