From Joaquin's brace to the stuff of dreams for Borja Mayoral, Villarreal CF's second straight win and much more, LaLiga Santander 2017/18 Matchday 4 provided the usual excitement and plenty of special storylines around the grounds. Many of the key figures involved feature in the latest LaLiga Fantasy MARCA Best XI, which we run through below.
Sevilla, Real Betis and Villarreal are the three best-represented teams in the Matchday 4 Best XI, which also features players from UD Las Palmas, Valencia CF, Real Madrid and SD Eibar. It is the Basques who supply the Player of the Matchday in the shape of Alejandro Galvez, who earned his side their second victory of the season by putting CD Leganes to the sword at Ipurua. The defensive operator's all-action display was epitomised by his goal, for which he won the ball back, switched play to the wing and then bulleted home a header from a cross all in the space of a few seconds.
Las Palmas goalkeeper Leandro Chichizola is the man between the sticks this time around. The Argentine was one of the islanders' outstanding performers in their narrow win over Athletic Club, coming up with several big saves to bag the three points and a clean sheet to boot.
At the back, Sevilla duo Daniel Carriço and Lionel Carole are joined by Player of the Matchday Galvez and Valencia's Jeison Murillo. All four were in influential form over the weekend.
The three-man midfield is made up of Villarreal's Samu Castillejo and a pair of veterans from the Benito Villamarin: Andres Guardado and Joaquin, the latter of whom grabbed a brace to fire his beloved Betis past RC Deportivo on Saturday.
Last but not least, the five-goal frontline sees another Yellow Submarine star, Cedric Bakambu, partnering Luis Muriel and Los Blancos starlet Mayoral. Bakambu was another player to strike twice over the matchday, sinking D. Alaves, while Mayoral opened the scoring and his LaLiga Santander account to help Real Madrid past Real Sociedad, and Muriel notched the winner for Sevilla against Girona FC.
