Ex-Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is backing Jeffery Schlupp’s Leicester City to win a historic Premier League crown this season.

The Foxes have been on cloud nine since the start of the English top-flight with consistent displays so far.

They have assumed top position on the league table after their 3-0 win at Swansea City last Saturday.

Manager Claudio Ranieri has received massive plaudits for transforming the side since taking charge amid growing belief they could win the Premier League title this term.

And former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson could win the Premier League this season if the club's owners back their manager with funds in the January transfer window.

“This is a team with fantastic vitality, speed, energy. At the moment Leicester are the best team in the league, without a doubt,” he told Daily Telegraph.

But the question is, how long will it last? Have they the resources to continue through the season?

“Back in 1992-93 when we won the Premier League for the first time, Norwich led the whole season until the middle of March. But we beat them at their own ground and won the league.

“So, for a small club, historically, like Leicester City, they have a challenge. How far can they go with this present squad, can they last the whole season?

“What is the manager Claudio Ranieri saying to the owners? What is his view in terms of adding to the squad?

The Foxes have a tough run of fixtures against Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool and Manchester City before the transfer window opens.
