Lingard lavishes praise on Greenwood: To this day I don’t know what foot he is

Jesse Lingard has lavished praise on his Manchester United team-mate Mason Greenwood - noting his 'rapid' development as a first-team footballer.

Greenwood is enjoying a brilliant breakthrough year at Old Trafford, scoring 12 goals in 36 appearances in all competitions so far this season.

Despite being only 18, the forward's displays have shown a maturity beyond his years. This is coupled with the fact he has the rare ability of being genuinely ambidextrous with both feet - as evidenced by his goals this campaign.

'He knows the game of football, he shoots right to left foot. Still to this day I don’t know what foot he is,' Lingard told the Football Show on Sky Sports.

'He can score free-kicks with his left, take corners with his right.

'When he has been given the opportunity, he shows what he can do.

'It doesn’t matter about age, as long as you can perform on the day, and do the job for the team, you’ll be in the team. He is learning at a rapid rate at the moment.'

And Lingard also revealed that off the pitch the teenager can hold his own too - calling him one of the club's chief pranksters.

'Mason, he is a cheeky chappy. He is a good lad, holds his own in the changing room, holds his banter,' he added.
