Liverpool transfer news: Haaland cousin provides boost but Klopp told Salah 'will leave'

Published on: 07 April 2021

Liverpool's injury-ravaged season has impacted the club so badly Jurgen Klopp and his players currently find themselves seventh in the Premier League table, with just eight games to go.

What should have been a staunch title defence has become a dog fight for the top four, with the Reds desperately hoping they can retain a spot in the Champions League for next year.

Whether they do make the top four or not, Liverpool may feel they need to invest in the summer transfer window regardless.

Despite Diogo Jota's impressive form, Roberto Firmino's lack of goals is becoming hard to ignore. And, like most other big clubs in Europe, Liverpool have found themselves linked with Erling Haaland.

But it's not all about incomings, Klopp may find he has a battle on his hands to hold on to the club's key players. The likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are regularly linked with moves to La Liga.

Here's the latest Liverpool transfer rumours...

Haaland cousin declares interest

It's not just the Borussia Dortmund striker that's been linked with Liverpool, his cousin, Albert Tjaaland, has now expressed an interest in going to Anfield.

The Molde youngster has reportedly scored an astonishing 69 goals in 48 games at youth level and appears to have been blessed with his cousin's goalscoring touch.

In a recent Q&A on the Rising Ballers Instagram page, Tjaaland replied to one of the questions: "Of course I want to play in the best league in the world, my favourite team is Liverpool."

The 17-year-old would no doubt arrive cheaper than his family member, too.

Dembele blow

Like Manchester United, Liverpool have also been linked with Barcelona's Ousmane Dembele.

Despite his shaky injury record, the Frenchman has the pace and skill to play in Liverpool's front line and no doubt grow under Klopp's stewardship.

However, Barca boss Koeman has shut down any suggestion of Dembele leaving the Nou Camp this summer.

"Physically, he's improved a lot; I think that's been the key to his quality and consistency to play so many games," said the Dutchman. "So, yes, if it's up to me, I would like him to stay with us."

Salah 'will leave'

One player who constantly seems to be linked with a move away is Mohamed Salah.

Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have all been mooted as possible destinations for the 28-year-old.

And Hamdi Nooh, who was Salah's first coach at Egyptian side El-Mokawloon, believes Salah will seal an Anfield exit should a decent enough offer come his way.

“Yes, he may think about leaving Liverpool if a better offer comes in, but that’s just my own opinion," Nooh told AS . "He’s unique and his family means everything to him.”
