Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard has reportedly emerged as a summer transfer target for Milan.

Odegaard is currently on a season-long loan at Real Sociedad, catching the eye with seven goals and eight assists in 28 games.

The arrangement also gives Madrid the option to recall the 21-year-old or keep him at Anoeta for another campaign.

“I’m moderately optimistic about what Odegaard gives me and how he’s doing,” Sociedad sporting director Roberto Olabe was recently quoted as saying.

“There are agreements and contracts that go beyond any words given, but now we just have to leave him alone so he can prove his worth in peace and that he can make his decision without any pressure. I have faith in him.”

However, Tuttosport writes the Norwegian could also be discussed when Milan hold talks with Blancos officials for Luka Jovic ahead of the 2020-21 season.

The newspaper explains that although he is valued in the region of €40m, the Rossoneri could negotiate a loan with an option to buy.

They would also be boosted by the player’s reported desire to keep developing away from the Santiago Bernabeu, where his route to the first team is blocked.

Odegaard has played as one of the two outside-central midfielders in La Real’s 4-1-4-1 formation but can play further afield as a No 10 or on the wings.

Relations between Milan and Madrid are strong after Theo Hernandez’s succesful switch to San Siro last summer.
