Michael Helegbe has joined Medeama

Ex Asante Kotoko coach Malik Jabir has criticized the club for letting Michael Helegbe leave ahead of their Champions League campaign.

The Ghana midfielder has joined Medeama in the secondary transfer window in a part deal to defray the cost for Kotoko’s full ownership of Richard Mpong.

But Malik Jabir has hit against the move which he believes is already sending bad signals ahead of the side’s campaign in the CAF Champions League.

“Today I hear one of our players have registered for Medeama, leaving the club,” he said on Kotoko Radio on Metro FM.

“Michael Helegbe, leaving the club when we are in the African cup, what does that tell us?

“Some of us we sit behind and weep all the time. We see things that ought not to happen to Kotoko.”

Kotoko crashed out of last season’s Champions League in the preliminary stage to JSM Bejaia.

The Ghana champions are hoping to progress even further in the upcoming edition.
