Man City told Arsenal's Gabriel Jesus signing was better business than their Erling Haaland deal

Erling Haaland has enjoyed a remarkable start to life at Manchester City, but the Blues have been told that Arsenal's signing of Gabriel Jesus was a better bit of business.

Haaland has scored 14 goals in nine appearances in all competitions this season, 11 of those coming in seven Premier League outings. That tally puts him top of the goalscoring charts - five ahead of Harry Kane and Aleksandar Mitrovic - and means he has enjoyed a better start to his City career than any other striker.

However, speaking on talkSPORT, former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor argued that Jesus has been the best Premier League signing of the summer.

Arsenal paid City £45million to secure the services of the Brazilian striker, bringing an end to a trophy-laden five-and-a-half year spell at the Etihad Stadium. Jesus has scored four goals in seven league appearances this term, placing him joint-fourth in the goal standings.

Jesus has certainly improved Arsenal's attack, with Mikel Arteta's side sitting top of the league table, one point ahead of City.

"[The] best signing is Gabriel Jesus, for me," Agbonlahor said. "Haaland has been outstanding, but City always did well without Haaland and scored ridiculous goals without Haaland.

"Gabriel Jesus has turned Arsenal into something else. They have got a striker now who doesn’t labour when he is pressing defenders."

Despite those claims, the former striker believes that nobody will be able to stop Haaland from winning the Premier League Golden Boot award this season.

"I just look at Haaland and even when he's not having a good game, he'll leap in the air and tap one in. He's like from a different planet."

Both strikers were set to go head-to-head in October in City's trip to the Emirates Stadium, but that fixture will be re-arranged in order to accommodate Arsenal's rescheduled Europa League match against PSV Eindhoven.
