Maran: Chievo should have beaten Sampdoria by more

Published on: 20 March 2016

Chievo coach Rolando Maran has said that his side could have poured more misery on Sampdoria as the Blucerchiati were beaten 1-0 .

A first half goal from Riccardo Meggiorini was enough to give the Flying Donkeys the three points despite Valter Birsa having a penalty saved but the Chievo tactician was still satisfied with how his team performed in both the defensive and offensive phases of the game.

“We played really well and I have to congratulate the boys,” Maran told reporters in his post-match press conference. “We could finished the game off early but what is important is that we got three massive points.

“We created a lot and we did it with good play and continuously moving the ball around. We covered the ground well defensively and we were dangerous when we had the ball.”

Chievo are in ninth place in the Serie A table with 38 points after 30 games and host Palermo after the international break.
