Villarreal coach Marcelino was happy with his side’s 1-0 win over Napoli as he felt it was just rewards for the effort they showed.
The Spanish side looked to attack for much of the fixture before a late Denis Suarez free kick gave them a first-leg lead.
“It was predictable that it would be a good game,” said Marcelino to reporters after the game.
“We played against a great opponent and I believe the win was deserved and the correct result.
“We showed that we are good team, one who are difficult to beat.
“We wanted to create a bit more but you have to give credit to the opponents, Napoli on a collective level are the best team in Italy.”
The Yellow Submarine boss also looked ahead to the second leg at the Stadio San Paolo.
“Now we have a 60 per cent chance of qualifying, while it’s 40 per cent for them,” added Marcelino.
“It’s a tough place to go to but they need to score two and keep a clean sheet so it will be difficult for them.”
