Marcelo Brozovic 'wanted by Barcelona and Real Madrid' and join Liverpool in race for midfielder

Barcelona and Real Madrid have joined Liverpool in the race to sign Inter Milan's Marcelo Brozovic.

The Reds supposedly made contact with the midfielder's agent last week but they could now face competition from both LaLiga giants.

The Croatian has a release clause of £52million but Inter are desperate to tie him down to a new deal so they can raise their asking price.

Barca and Real are keeping tabs on the 27-year-old according to Italian newspaper Sportske Novosti (as reported by Mundo Deportivo) with the player open to a possible move.

Brozovic has been a regular for the Serie A side this season with 32 appearances in all competitions.

He has also provided three goals and five assists and is known for his high energy and impressive range of passing.

His best position is considered to be as a holding midfielder but his versatility means he can adapt to other roles.

Brozovic was part of the Croatia team that came runners-up in the 2018 World Cup, playing in all but one game during the tournament.

He started his career with his local side NK Hrvatski Dragovoljac before moving to Lokomotiva Zagreb.

He joined Dinamo Zagreb in 2012 then signed for Inter on an initial 18-month loan before a permanent move in 2016.
