Marquinhos says PSG need a 'warrior mentality' to beat Manchester City in semi-final second leg

Paris Saint-Germain captain Marquinhos has called on his team to display a 'warrior mentality' in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final with Manchester City.

The French side conceded two second half goals as they were beaten 2-1 by City at the Parc des Princes, after Marquinhos' header had put them 1-0 ahead at half-time.

City's two away goals puts them firmly in control of the tie but Marquinhos has issused a rallying call to his team-mates ahead of the return fixture at the Etihad next week.

The defender believes the Ligue 1 club can turn the tie around and progress to the final once again.

'We will need personality, he who does not believe that we can do it shouldn't even make the trip over there,' he told RMC Sport.

'We will need a warrior mentality, do everything required to go through. We are very close, we must not doubt it now.'

PSG started the game brightly and took the lead when Marquinhos headed in Angel Di Maria's corner in the 15th minute.

But City dominated the second half and goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Marhez turned the tie in their favour.

Marquinhos admitted his side will need to be better defensively if they are to get a result at the Etihad and make the final for a second year running.

He added: 'We conceded two very stupid goals, these are details, this is the Champions League. We have to better manage these little details and remain strong in goal situations.

'It is true that the second half, we were too far back, we were not able to find a way out of our half, the City team was more aggressive, they played higher. We still have 90 minutes but we will have to do better to head to the final.'
