Karela United FC midfielder Umar Bashiru was named Man-of-the-Match during their 2-2 draw with AshantiGold SC in Week One of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.

The lanky midfielder was at his best for the Anyinase-based outfit in the match against AshantiGold SC at the Len Clay Stadium on Sunday.

Bashiru controlled the midfield with ease and remarkably assisted Samuel Ofori with a visionary pass for his side’s second goal of the match.

The former WAFA player’s overall performance in the game earned him the Man-of-the-Match gong.

Karela United FC started the match brightly after Taylor Diawusie opened the scoring in the 4th minute.

AshantiGold SC however leveled the scoreline through Appiah McCarthy’s deflected free kick before Hans Kwoffie put them ahead on the stroke of half time with a free header.

Karela United earned a point from the match after Samuel Ofori connected superbly with Umar Bashiru’s sweet one time pass in the 59th minute.

The result takes AshantiGold and Karela United to 6th and 8th respectively.
