Medeama SC defender Vincent Atinga has been handed a call up to the Black Stars 'B' team ahead of the Championship of Africa Nations (CHAN) qualifier against Benin.

The former Hearts of Oak defender was initially left out of the first batch of players invited to camp to begin preparations for the game.

Atinga, who was rested in Medeama's away win over Elmina Sharks ahead of his journey to Accra to join his colleagues in preparation for CHAN qualifiers, has today joined other invitees at the camp of the Black Stars B.

The 28-year-old has been one of the most improved, consistent and top performing players in the Ghana Premier League since last season and is currently the top scorer among the defenders in the league with six goals to his credit.

The Black Stars ‘B’ will play Benin in the preliminary stage of the qualifiers in search of a ticket to the biennial competition scheduled for Algeria in January 2023.

Ghana have failed to qualify for the tournament in the last three editions and will hope to make another appearance this time around.

The Black Stars ‘B’ finished 2nd in 2009 and in 2014.
