Ghanaian players are not left out as the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League takes centre stage again.

The 2018/19 Europe's elite club competition will kick-off on Tuesday, September 18 with the best European sides set to compete against each other in the tournament.

The question on the lips of football aficionados is, which of the Ghanaian players featuring in this season competition can taste glory.

Only 5 Ghanaians have ever won the competition. They are; Abedi Ayew Pele [Marseille], Samuel Osei Kuffour [Bayern Munich], current Black Stars assistant coach Ibrahim Tanko [Dortmund], Michael Essien [Chelsea] and Sulley Ali Muntari [Inter Milan]

Here is a list of Ghanaian players who will compete against the best in the world to lift the coveted trophy in club football.

Partey has been named amongst the Rojiblancos squad that will play as guests to AS Monaco at the Stade Louis II.

The 25-year-old enforcer is having a season to forget as he's been unable to churn out regular playing time but with this season being his fourth in the competition, the former Tema Youth ace is expected to play a starring role for Diego Simeone's outfit.

Kwadwo Asamoah - Inter Milan

Asamoah joined Inter Milan on a free transfer after ending his six-year stay with Italian champions Juventus. The 29-year-old has quickly established himself as a key figure in the Luciano Spalletti's side, featuring in all of their four Serie A games.

He is expected to be deployed at the left-back position when the Nerazzuri welcome English giants Tottenham Hotspurs in the first game of Group B at the Guissepe Meazza Stadium on Tuesday night.

Richmond Boakye Yiadom rejoined the Serbian giants on Transfer Deadline Day from Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning. The 25-year-old will be expected to spearhead the attack for the Red and White lads against Italian side Napoli at the Stadion Rajko Mitić on Tuesday evening.

Meanwhile, defensive stalwart Rashid Sumaila is in line to taste his maiden European football action when they entertain the Italian giants.

The 2018/19 Champions League campaign will be Rahman's second taste of the competition, having featured in the 2015/16 for English side Chelsea.

He is expected to feature prominently for the Gelsenkirchen-based outfit but due to their underwhelming start to the campaign, he was relegated to the bench in their last league game after starting the first two matches.

However, is experienced in the competition means coach Domenico Tedesco will count on him when they welcome Portuguese giants FC Porto to the Veltins Arena in the opening fixture of Group D.

Kasim Nuhu - TSG Hoffeinheim

Nuhu is a major doubt for his club’s first Champions league game against Shakhter Donetsk but is expected to be back in action for the German side in subsequent games.

Gregory Kwesi Wuthrich - Young Boys

The Swiss-born Ghanaian guardsman has been instrumental for the Bern-based side in their Swiss league title defence.

The 22-year-old has made six appearances in the Super League and also two appearances in the qualifying phase of the Champions League.

Despite being a rookie in the competition, Kwesi Wuthrich is expected to play a key role in their bid usurp big European giants like Manchester United, Juventus and Valencia in Group H.
