Milan 'express surprise interest in Nottingham Forest star Matty Cash'

AC Milan have shown a surprise interest in Nottingham Forest star Matty Cash.

He has converted to right back from midfield and also attracted attention from Milan and West Ham.

The Athletic believe that the Italian giants have made an offer in the region of £15million, although Cash is currently expected to remain at the City Ground this month.

Cash has impressed Milan with his performances under Sabri Lamouchi this season, with the versatile man having started 25 of Forest's 27 Championship games.

A host of Premier League clubs are also believed to be interested.

Forest are keen to keep hold of Cash, although Milan are eager to bolster their options at right back with Davide Calabria plagued by injury problems.

But Cash, who progressed through the Nigel Doughty Academy, has become an integral performer for the second tier outfit and the club have no immediate imperative to sell him.

After the £8million departure of Arvin Appiah to Almeria in the summer, Forest will remain comfortably within the loss limit imposed by the EFL's profitability and sustainability rules.

Cash has been regularly been watched by top flight scouts this season, and netted against West Brom and Hull.
